I cannot tell their story better that their blog so here is the link  http://www.livyshope.com/

Last month we (my day gig) had a visit with Hailey, Olivia, Mom and Dad. I had the the great opportunity to be a fly on the wall and capture a few moments. When shooting this I could not help but realize the seriousness of Livy’s (Olivia) condition only to see it eclipsed by her sisters love and desire to create something to help her sister.  It was funny and neat to watch Hailey meticulously look over the beads to make sure these colors went with those colors to make the best designs she could.  Fun!

We had a second visit with Hailey and Mom so she could come in and sit with our wonderful design team. She got to learn new techniques and show the designers some of her own!  As for the design staff, it was great to see them working with Hailey and having fun!  Here are a few images from both visits.

The hand that our company extended out to this family makes me very proud to work for them.

Two weeks back a colleague and friend of mine asked for a quick portrait. The window to shoot was 5 minutes. The B&W image is one of those in between shots that make my day.  Great expression!  Thanks Bryan for letting me click off a few.
Tech Crap: Nikon, Nikon, Sun, B&W conversion. blah blah blah yadda and some junk.

The passing storm has left days of grey to follow.  I always find it interesting when reading photographers saying there is no possiblity to shoot until the sun is out. In many cases overcast can be your friend. Not able to sleep I decided to dig through the archive and revisit some old images and found this one. I shot Viv back in 07 (damn been too long). I remember this day clearly for several reasons. Viv was always a fantastic subject to work with. Always engaging, fun and very cool. This is up in Dunedin on a very grey day.  A few passers by but that is the area. The pallet was very mutted. We only got to play for 20-30 minutes then rain.

Remember, not everything is a picture. A good eye can edit before the shutter opens. - Craig Coverdale
Working in a commercial studio comes with demands that change per task. This is not a bad thing as I love challenges.  To break stride I sometimes have to step away from the task at hand and shift direction to shoot something unrestricted by the driven concept. This shot is one of those side steps. There is no end goal for this image other than wanting to create a beauty shot.
Tech: Canon, Balcar, Spector, IS Macro
